NSW East Coast Severe Weather grants, payments and financial support
Grant and financial relief and support information for those impacted by the NSW East Coast Severe Weather from 18 May 2025.
Individuals
East Coast Severe Weather Personal Hardship Assistance
If you have been affected by the East Coast Severe Weather event, you may be eligible for a personal hardship assistance payment.
Eligible individuals will receive a one-off payment of $180, or up to $900 per household, to cover essential costs such as food, clothing, medicine and emergency accommodation.

Disaster Recovery Allowance
Individuals who have lost income as a direct result of NSW East Coast severe weather and flooding may be eligible for up to 13 weeks of income support.
Check eligibility on the Services Australia website and claim online through myGov or call the Australian Government Emergency Information Line on 180 22 66.

Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP)
The AGDRP is a lump sum payment of $1,000 per eligible adult and $400 per child who have been directly affected by NSW East Coast severe weather and flooding.

Other financial assistance and support available for individuals after a disaster
Other support for individuals includes:
- immediate assistance (including small cash payments and direct material aid to cover food, clothing, personal items and emergency accommodation).
- grants for low income, uninsured households to replace essential household items
- grants for low income, uninsured households for essential structural repairs to homes
To be eligible, individuals must reside in one of the declared affected Local Government Areas (AGRN 1212).

Disaster Relief Grants
The Disaster Relief Grant Program supports those most in need and those least able to return their homes to a safe and habitable condition after a natural disaster such as low-income earners and where the damage is not covered by insurance.
Funding for this grant is subject to eligibility requirements.

Business and primary producers
Recovery grants for small businesses and not-for-profit organisations
Small businesses (with fewer than 20 employees) and non-profit organisations may also be eligible for recovery grants of up to $25,000 to help clean up and restore their businesses.

Recovery grants for primary producers and rural landholders
Natural Disaster Relief Grants
Primary producers directly impacted by flooding may be eligible for a grant of up to $25,000 to help with essential recovery costs.
Eligible primary producers can access an initial $5,000 by providing photographic evidence of direct damage, with the remaining funds (up to $20,000) available once valid tax invoices and proof of payment are submitted and verified.
Eligible primary producers impacted by NSW East Coast Severe Weather (AGRN 1212) and NSW Tropical Cyclone Alfred (AGRN 1198) can claim only one grant with a maximum of $25,000.

Rural Landholder Grants
Eligible rural landholders may apply for grants of up to $10,000 to assist with minimising disruption and supporting recovery, helping rural landholders and aquaculture producers with essential recovery costs.

Other financial assistance and support for businesses and primary producers
Small business and primary producers may also be eligible for concessional loans up to $130,000. Primary producers may also be eligible for transport subsidies of up to $15,000. Other support for non-profits and community organisations
Non-profits may be eligible for concessional loans of up to $25,000 and sporting and recreational clubs can apply for concessional loans of up to $10,000. Eligibility
To be eligible for some special assistance measures, business, primary producers, non-profits and community organisations must be in a Local Government Area (LGA) that is covered by the NSW East Coast severe weather natural disaster declaration (AGRN 1212).
